Macross F?s Megami poster

Macross F

Picture sourced from Heisei Democracy.

Seeing this poster over at Heisei Democracy’s post, this really cements Alto’s androgyny. I remember the last time a male character (technically) was in Megami was OtoBoku’s Mizuho, and we all know what that did to us

I wonder if Alto-hime is going to tsun-tsun over it or dere-dere over it. Either way, he loves it, I guess.

On a side note, Diamond Crevasse’s single got leaked. Gabriela Robin.com is such cocktease by putting up the samples. Already procured ????????? Don’t be late?, now looking for ??????? ?????.

The Unboxing of Evangelion 1.01 LE DVD

Finally got my hands on my order of Evangelion 1.01. Amazon.jp is impressive. Ordered placed on Saturday, processed on Sunday, delivered on Monday morning, arrived at Tuesday evening. That’s what you call service, eh. But I must say, for the 1,700 yen I paid for the shipping, they could’ve used a much more better packaging. I was surprised at looking at thin boxpack(or whatever it’s called) used for the DVD. I was expecting a box, heh.

The Best Team Blog Isn’t a Blog

Since Kabitzin has been diligently pimping the ABA these past few weeks, I figured I’d better chip in with my own tearful and drama-ridden explanation of my voting choices. But that would have taken too long, so instead I’ll just grouse about who I believe should have been a nominee for the best team blog category.

An ace team blog should inspire feelings of heartfelt admiration for the close bond between the team members and the intangible *oomph* that arises from being more than just a sum of parts. The blog cannot feel simply like a talented and diverse group of professional writers who collaborate on blog-related activities; they’ve got to be friends both on and off the court. Who do I think is the best candidate? Hontou Ni.

Yes, it’s actually a tag team, but it might as well be a conjoined twin. Hontou Ni Taihen Desu and Hontou Ni Sou Omou together exhibit the kind of community-engendering teamwork that embodies my vision of ‘best team blog’. They’ve got each others backs, they josh each other endlessly in both locations, they critique and cross-reference each others’ habits and peculiarities, achieving a sort of chaotic synergy that only fetish blood-brothers can attain. Their alter-egos even live in the same comic universe, apparently. They aren’t isolationists either, being active participants in the aniblogsphere.

They even stock up on merchandise for each other. I sure as hell wouldn’t waltz into a store to buy a dakimakura for Kabitzin, but I’m sure Stripey would happily snag one for Zyl. Separated by barriers of space and time, these stalwart comrades have got each other covered, in uncomfortably twisted mimicry of Hoshi no Koe. I would almost go so far as suggest that they (*gasp*) combine their blogs into one, but then they’d have only one banner image for their numerous idols to share, and we all know there’s only room for one fetish in this town.

Naturally, this interpretation of the award category is entirely personal, and not necessarily in line with the official spiel listed on the ABA site (which has a very technical slant for best clarity). Although I would have liked the Hontou Ni duo to be in the runnings, it’s pretty obvious that being two separate blogs makes them ineligible. Which is probably for the best, since allowing dual entities to be nominated as one would have muddled up the rules quite a bit.

As an aside, I do believe that 0rion and Guff had some good synchro going, but their well-prepared dialogues made me feel there was actually only one person playing both parts, like an Eddie Izzard skit. Which is not a bad thing at all, but it’s just not my thing.

Kamen no Maid Guy 03

Summary:
Naeka gets a love letter, but because of a bad experience in her past, she is afraid to love. Naeka’s terrible cooking drove her crush away and earned her the nickname “Poison Woman.” Since Kogarashi believes he has to protect the entire Fujiwara bloodline, he decides to help Naeka get freaky. He gives her a zero-calorie potion that arouses tremendous feelings of yuri-maid longing, but Fubuki nixes the plan before Zyl can fetch his video camera.

Fubuki cures Naeka’s fear of love by teaching Naeka to cook. With the trauma behind her, Naeka is eager to meet her suitor, but is surprised to find that it is a fangirl with green hair and glasses. As we all know, kendo also brings out yuri longing, so Kogarashi dumps the lovers into a special lovu lovu pit he had prepared beforehand.

Reaction:
Kousuke had a bigger role this episode, and I think he did a great job with his screentime. I laughed while he was weeping about how forlorn he was when getting the bad ending, and I enjoyed his approval of Fubuki x Naeka. Kogarashi also proved to be very tolerant of this modern era. I don’t think we got a name for lovergirl, though.

I also enjoyed all the Maid Guy abilities, such as Maid Guy shredder. Kogarashi is like a Swiss Army Knife, only better and more burly. He is capable of learning too, as seen when Kogarashi made sure to make his love potion fat-free. I feel he is sensitive to women’s feelings, although he tends not to beat around the bush very much. Sometimes everyone needs a dose of brutal honesty (and yuri).

Wagaya no Oinari-sama 04

The show is slowly picking up, in terms of interesting-ness and awesome-ness.

Didn’t expect to see even Hocchan in this show, much more as Miyako, the siblings mom at that. I just can’t see anyone with Hocchan’s voice as a mother. Really. Especially when she’s using that normal, Hocchan voice of hers.

The main star of this episode has to be Kou-chan. Kou-chan is “oh she’s so cute I wanna glomp her! wwwww”. Miko + dojikko + strong desire to protect master = win. Not to mention she’s got one awesome “uuuuuu :\” face.

I killed my mobo? orz

The story goes like this…

The other day, I bought 2 x 1GB sticks of Crucial Ballistix RAM from Shawty (popular seller in LYN forums). Got the RAM yesterday, then took it to test on my new rig today. Booted up fine with all 4 sticks. Then decided to test with only the Ballistix. Guess what? The POST BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP of Doom struck. orz.

“Fine,” I thought, “Might have seated the RAM’s wrongly.”, so I reseated the RAM’s. POST BEEP of Doom again.

“Right, calm down…. let me try with the other slots.”, so I changed the slots pairing from 1-3 to 2-4. POST BEEP of Doom again.

“Shit, this looks bad.”, so I changed to the original sticks of Corsair Twin2x XMS RAM. Tried with 1-3 and 2-4. POST BEEP’s of Doom again.

“Oh f-ck, not good.”, so I reset the CMOS twice and tested with different set each CMOS clear. POST BEEP’s of Doom again.

“Great.”, so I tested the sticks INDIVIDUALLY, on each INDIVIDUAL slots.

16 POST BEEP’s of Doom (4 sticks x 4 slots) later, “F*ck, this is bad. real bad.”, so I asked for riku2replica’s(LYN forumer and friend) help to eliminate the RAM as the cause. All the RAM’s worked fine on his PC.

“Sigh… looks like my mobo is f***ed.” Called jy14(the original seller) to RMA the board and he said it takes 2 weeks.

So, there is how I killed my mobo in just one month of setting it up, har har har. Thank god the mobo is still in RMA period.

Moral of the story: Shit happens.

Oh, i’m taking the chance to sell my current casing as well, the LYN thread is here. You can also contact me directly via email if you want to buy it (no outstation buyers, thanks).

Da Capo II Second Season 04

Da Capo II Second Season

Tsundere Yume is tsundere~~~

The Christmas festival finally arrives in this episode.

Yume continues on her tsundere-ness, which is pretty funny, especially when she goes all robotic when Yoshiyuki greets her at the start of the episode.

As expected, poor Koko gets KO’ed, and Otome saves the day with her very emotional rendition of Sheryl in the puppet play. The play is probably going to foretell the events happening later on in the series.

The episode ends with the Asakura sisters, Yoshiyuki and Sakura celebrating Christmas together (funnily, Jun’ichi seems forgotten most of the time), ending with Sakura’s ominous wish for this happiness to last forever.

Macross Frontier 04

Summary:
There’s a quick flashback of how the Zentradi beat our asses, but eventually succumbed to our pop-culture, and then we learn that Ranka has qualified for the 12th Miss Macross Frontier competition. We get a montage of Alto going through the tough training to get into SMS, but he still tells Ranka he will show up for her performance. Unfortunately, Ozma thinks that the contest sucks, and because he doesn’t know that Ranka is competing, Ozma schedules Alto’s final exam for the same day.

Ranka is a bit of a mess, since Alto has to leave before her song portion, but she does her best. Although she doesn’t win, Ranka puts on a good show before losing to big-chested Miranda Melin. Meanwhile does well in the final mock battle, before a lone Vajra shows up to crash the party. Zentradi Lieutenant Klan Klein cracks the Vajra’s laser pack, and Alto is able to grab an old Zentradi gun from nearby and finish the job. Alto is accepted into SMS, and he tells Ranka not to give up. Meanwhile, Sheryl stalks Alto to school, presumably to get her earring back.

Reaction:
First off, Ranka has an awesome backpack, and she did a great job against those other ladies. However, there were a lot of questions introduced in this episode. For instance, were the other two Queadluun-Raus pilots in Pixie Squadron Zentradi as well? And what was the Ozma talking about when he said he managed to get 50 of something? Finally, did Mikhail mean to insinuate that Luca is trying to get all shounen-ai with Alto?

As for the rest of the episode, the blending of song and battle was well done, and I enjoyed Alto’s kabuki-taunt after downing Nene. Ozma was being foolish about the contest, considering that mankind had been saved by culture and hotties in the past, but Catherine seemed to act like Leon was the culprit responsible for tanking Ranka’s chances. I wonder if the former 8th runner-up suspects some cheating, but I guess there are other ways to become a pop star.

Code Geass R2 04

Code Geass R2

Rollo gets mindfucked.

WTF!
WTF!
WHAT THE FUCK!

Oh god, Lulu, or should I say the Sunrise scriptwriters, are masters at such plot twistings. Hell, I felt a bit of pity for poor Rollo myself.
